Spotted: Nissan Figaro In 'Murica

Stop what you are doing. A Figaro has been spotted in rural Wisconsin over the weekend. And it is awesome .

(In case you are wondering, the totally goofy kid in the NASA shirt geeking out over this car is certainly not me.)

For those of you unfamiliar with this little gem, allow me to introduce you. The Figaro is a retro-styled 2 seat roadster sold by Nissan in the early nineties. It's based off the Nissan Micra, and has an uber-neat semi convertible top a-la fiat 500. It was sold along with the Pao, Be-1, and S-cargo, all of which are equally retrotastic.

For some reason or another Nissan didn't continue this trend, which is a shame. I think they should at least bring back the roll-back top for the Juke. It would be much better than Nissan's other convertible crossover...

I was equally surprised (hence the geeking out) but it did have a Florida rear plate. I'm guessing it was some wealthy person's grocery-getter at their summer home, but awesome nonetheless. There was a 2CV right in front of it too.

There's a Japanese guy here in South FL who's been bringing his Figaro out to a local car show for years now. Quirky and fun little car. He also brings an R33 Skyline out from time to time. No idea how he has the cars here in the states.

I was there a week ago for a family reunion (stayed in cabins near Jellystone in Warrens). Had a great time. Beautiful place, perfect weather - took nice hikes at Devil's Lake and Necedah Wildlife Refuge.

I was super-impressed with my little girl on the hike - we walked the east side of the lake, through the boulders, and then cut back to take the long climb up to the lookout at the top. She's just 5 and she didn't complain once, just kept plugging away all the way to the top. A couple years of peewee soccer is pretty good hiking prep, apparently!
